A brief history of LCF

We trace our roots back to 1st May 1988 when partners Geoffrey Cawthra, Paul Smith and Neil Shaw demerged the Shipley, Bradford (Duckworth Lane branch) and Ilkley offices of long-established Bradford & Leeds law firm: Last Suddards.

Over the following years that firm, which became Last Cawthra Feather, grew both organically and by a series of mergers and acquisitions.

In the late 1990s, partners Simon Stell, Susan Clark and Paul Anderson joined the firm to broaden the scope of legal services to include corporate law and commercial property law.

In 2004 we became a Limited Liability Partnership (an ‘LLP’), and then, in 2015, LCF Law became a limited company - giving us more freedom to innovate and provide an outstanding service for our clients.

We see ourselves as a strong Yorkshire law firm (though with national clients) so it was a natural step, in 2007, to open our Leeds office. That was followed, on 1 October 2015, with the next step in our growth; we established a North Yorkshire base in Harrogate when we merged with long standing local firm, Barber Titleys.

We’re now a strong, successful law firm operating in four centres across Yorkshire, covering many areas of the law, working closely with and delighting our customers.
