Is paid leave on bank holidays a statutory right.

Published: 18th June, 2014

There seems to be an assumption among my staff that paid leave on bank holidays are a statutory right. Is this true?

Question asked by Sarah from Social Yorkshire Ltd

Answer

Hi Sarah, the statutory right is to 5.6 weeks paid annual leave each holiday year, whether BHs are included in an individual’s entitlement depends on their terms.

If you’d like to know more about holiday entitlement, we have lots of questions and answers about it in the Legal Library.
