I am not married: Can I claim maintenance?

Published: 22nd September, 2014

No. There is no such thing as a Common Law Spouse. If you are not married, there is no financial obligation to maintain the other person, even if there is a big difference in income or one party has paid for everything during the relationship and there are children.
