Don’t delay your LPA

The Office of the Public Guardian has spoken…
From 17 November 2025, the court fee to register a lasting power of attorney (LPA) will increase from £82 to £92.
What are LPAs?
An LPA allows you to appoint someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf if you are no longer able to do so.
There are two types of LPA:
- Property and financial affairs - for managing your property, money and finances.
- Health and welfare - for decisions about your medical treatment and care, including life-sustaining treatment.
Why you shouldn’t wait
Life is unpredictable and delaying putting in place LPAs can leave you and your family vulnerable when you least expect it.
If you don’t have an LPA in place and you are no longer able to make your own decisions (through illness, accident or ageing), your loved ones will not automatically have the legal authority to help you. They may face lengthy and expensive Court of Protection proceedings before they are able to step in.
Putting in place LPAs ensures your trusted loved ones can help you and provides invaluable peace of mind.
All LPAs must be registered by the Office of the Public Guardian before they can be used, so contact us now to avoid the increasing registration costs.
